Microsoft announced on September 28, 2011 that the company has inked a definitive agreement with Samsung Electronics to cross-license the patent portfolios of the two companies, according to a press release from Microsoft. As per the agreement, Samsung will pay Microsoft royalties for its mobile phones and tablet devices running on the Android OS. It is reported that the two companies will also cooperate on developing Smartphones and tablet devices operating on the Windows software.
